[Review] Garnier’s Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream in Medium/Dark

Hi Everyone!

So glad to be back and blogging!

Garnier's BB cream review is a great kick-off as the first summer post. Since BB creams are the new "it" product in the beauty world, I hope this post will answer some questions and help you make a decision as to whether this BB cream, or BB creams in general, are the right for you!

Garnier’s Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream in Medium/Dark

I bought this BB cream literally the first week it came out because it had a shade for darker skin tones. All the other BB creams that I have tried from Asia have been too light for my tanned skin tone and ended up making me look like a geisha or a mime. Other BB creams have also caused terrible breakouts on my skin, so I was hoping to try out this one to see if there was a difference.

The BB cream is a product similar to the tinted moisturizer. BB creams are NOT designed to be foundations, they only offer sheer, minimal coverage and were originally used for post-operation healing. This BB cream offers a better coverage compared to the ones I purchased from Asia, and it also looks a lot less dry on my face. I absolutely love the natural finish it provides.

The price for Garnier's BB cream is also very reasonable compared to other BB creams/tinted moisturizers on the market as it is on sale often and there are coupons available online for it.

Price:    Around $20 at Shoppers Drug Mart (Full Price) for 75 mL

How I use this product:
This product is great with a concealer.

I use this product in the morning as a moisturizer/foundation on cooler days or on days that I do not have a lot of time to get ready.

I squeeze a pea-sized amount onto my finger tip, divide it up with the fingertip from my other hand and gently pat the product onto my skin. Then I blend out the product and apply concealer to specific spots.

Claims: (from the packaging)
- Tone perfector –evens out skin tone
- Instant All-in-One (Renews, Brightens, Evens, Hydrates 24H)

Swatch of Garnier's BB cream - it blends seamlessly into the skin tone on my face (my hands are more tanned haha)

Pros:
- Tremendously moisturizing! It goes on the skin like a face cream, not liquid foundation (which sometimes ends up feeling and looking dry and cake-y).

- Glides on smoothly and gives your skin a "dewy" glow, perfect for the spring and fall.

- Can be used as a moisturizer on cooler days. I believe that the product will melt off during hot days and thus offer no colour coverage.

- You only need a pea-sized amount of product to cover your entire face, so the tube will last a long, long time.

- The squeezable tube design with a small opening is perfect for this product as it is thick. A pump will not work, and a large squeezable opening would be just awful and so messy. Great choice Garnier!

Middles:
There’s only 15 SPF in the product. I normally do not apply sunscreen to my face anyway because it causes me to break out, so it doesn’t make a huge difference. However if you are one who uses and needs SPF on a daily basis, then you would need to use more sunscreen after you apply this product.

Cons:
- Caused me to breakout on the oilier sections of my face (the forehead).

- The heavy fragrance. I believe this is a part of the reason why I break out from this product. It smells good, but it would be even better if it was lighter, not overpowering.

Before: No makeup ; After: With Garnier's BB cream (the lighting is different, but it shows the difference between having the product on and off better)

All-in-all:
This product is a less pricey alternative to other new BB creams on the market. It moisturizes wonderfully and does even out skin-tone quite well. The best part of this BB cream is that it comes in two shades, one light and one dark, and also it gives off a natural-looking coverage. This would be a good option for those who are looking for a BB cream that is more similar to a tinted moisturizer for darker skin tones.

The sun is finally starting to come out after a long rainy day yesterday. I think I`m going to finish off some chores and cook myself a decent lunch, then maybe head to the Farmer's Market downtown :). Last night was my boyfriend's band's show for the release of their first CD, it was awesome and if you or anyone you know (boyfriend, girlfriend, grandma) if a metal fan, check them out! http://www.reverbnation.com/ponderouschain

Have a lovely day!

  2.  Thanks! :)

So true about the oil slick thing! I used it today and it was really hot outside, and it basically melted off my face. I think I should either set it with some powder, or just use it during the winter.
